Event Details

Dear Dancers,

Our first ever Chocolate Ball is fast approaching! The "Age of Indulgence Chocolate Ball" will be held this Saturday evening, the 20th of June, at St John's Church Hall, just off Constitution avenue in Reid.

Dancers are welcome to arrive from 7pm, with the first dance of the evening commencing at 7:30pm. We will be enjoying many dances from the ballrooms of 18th Century Europe. There will be three brackets of dances each containing longways sets such as La Baroque, Yellow Stockings, The Changing, The Pursuit, Touchstone and Tourbillon, cotillions such as La Chasse d'Amour and Le Palais de l'Amour and some beautiful minuets such as Menute en Quatre, Minuet de la Reine and Minuet a Deux.

During this delectable evening, samples of chocolate delicacies especially prepared by the sister of the Marquise du Papillion Ivres will be on offer during each of the two supper breaks. Dancers are also most welcome to offer their own contributions of chocolate, or complimentary, delicacies to the supper table. While partaking of these flavoursome morsels, your remaining senses will be delighted by the sumptuous Baroque costumes and elegance of the couple ballet, "Entree pour un Berger et une Bergere", and one of the earliest cotillions, "Le Cotillon des Fetes de Thalie".

Costumes on the evening will be admired, but are by no means required. Feel free to let your creativity fly when considering your wardrobe and revel in an era of decadence and indulgence.

And to be truly indulgent, consider joining our Victorian Era Festival over the long weekend in October (Saturday 2nd to Monday 5th). This is the spring counterpart to our autumn Jane Austen Festival. There will be costuming, cooking, literature - and more dance classes, dancing and balls planned than ever before – with some sessions designed specially for beginners, to enable them to get the basics of all relevant dance forms, as well as sessions especially for experienced dancers wanting a challenge - a richly rewarding weekend for everyone! Early bird tickets are available at http://victorian09.eventbrite.com/

Warmest Regards,

Baroness Crème de menthe poivrée (Baroness Peppermint Cream)

On behalf of Grand Dancing Professor Profiterole and his lovely wife Lady
